Members strive to do so using a diverse number of means of engaging people from all generations, cultures and interests, both at local level and globally. Ardstraw’s celebrated position in the history of the island of Ireland is largely due to the influence of St. Eugene, his significant monastery; later a cathedral. St. Eugene’s influence on Newtownstewart and the heritage associated with St. Eugene and the story of the heritage locally represents a significant reason to celebrate the importance of the early church in this area.
Built Heritage
St. Eugene’s Church in Glenock Church is a key heritage building within our community, as is St. Eugene’s Church of Ireland at the top of Main Street. Both present as prominent historical landmark buildings.
